For about 35,000 Filipinos living in Ontario, Canada.
Life there is centered on strengthening their family, faith, and being part of the community.
Particularly in cities located in the greater Toronto area.
Aside from health care, Filipinos there are known to be part of various sectors such as business, real estate, and education.
If you know someone on social media who lives there, you'll notice that they're always sharing the places they go and the things they buy.
But behind their happy smiles, all Filipinos working there agree that like other countries, life in Canada is very fast-paced.
With the high cost of living, almost everyone cannot avoid living there following a routine.
Like working, paying bills, then they have to adjust and make a habit of being happy, especially during the winter.
Because winter is very long and very cold .
But even though they are abroad to combat the ever- increasing cost of living, it is common for Filipinos there to live together in one house.
That decision is not only a good strategy to save money but also to preserve Filipino culture.
There are also many organizations that have been created for the Filipinos there, according to data, more than half of the Filipinos there say that they adjusted well there and that they felt a sense of belonging, that they were accepted by the community and that they were among the community of our compatriots there.
Maria Lisa is one of the people who has been active in helping the Filipinos there, especially the newcomers.
His opinion and advice are highly valued because he has lived in Canada for 17 years.
Based on her professional profile, before going abroad, Maria graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Like other Filipinos, Maria joined forces with several Filipinos to come to Canada when immigration policies were still lax.
The report states that he was recruited by Air Transat, a Canadian airline headquartered in Montreal.
After obtaining her temporary foreign worker visa, Maria traveled to Canada and the airline's location in Ontario.
Shana, that's destiny.
For two years, Maria's face has been the one that greets passengers who want to check in.
He is also the one who validates the gate passes of those arriving and departing.
Even luggage is part of his responsibilities.
When your contract there ended, Maria immediately applied to become a permanent resident, which was the reason why she stayed in Canada.
His papers were immediately approved, allowing him to continue working at United Airlines.
But even though you can say that she is experienced and knows the ins and outs of her job as an airport sales agent, Maria insists that in order to be more successful there, she should change her job.
But as they say, a dream remains a dream until you act on it.
So over the course of a few years, staying up late became normal for Maria.
And what he always holds in his hand is a tumblr full of coffee.
Because after work, he goes straight to school.
After graduating from Ontario Real Estate College, he left his airline job to enter the world of real estate.
Maria has been described as the type of person who doesn't care if I start with this below.
Because in his mind, he wants to be more familiar with the ins and outs of his job so that if there is a promotion, he will be more likely to get it because he already has a lot of experience and can easily learn the responsibilities of his new position.
People admired the Filipina because even though she was over 40 years old, she was not discouraged or overcome by fear.
Because some people of that age may not diversify their work for fear that their career may not advance .
But Maria proved that when intelligence is combined with determination and strategy, there is no doubt that whoever follows that recipe will succeed.
And when he started working at Royal Lebudge Signature, that's when his living situation changed.
From the hourly rate, he already brings home a lot of money because in addition to his salary, he also gets a large commission .
Maria also used her previous experience as a newcomer to Canada to gain many clients because she knew that Filipinos who were new to Canada lacked or had no resources and were struggling.
She became their guide, especially those with families, on how credit scores, mortgages, and ways to make it easier for them to get a house.
With her kindness and genuine attitude of helping new immigrants easily adjust to life in Canada, Maria is often called "Ate" by them because they feel like an older sibling they can run to.
Just because the transaction is complete doesn't mean Maria's relationship with her clients ends there.
But he usually invites them to Filipino gatherings to meet other Filipinos.
That's why it was forced to die in 2019.
Some don't understand how that happened because it wasn't sick.
On the very day that news spread that he was dead, authorities quickly confirmed that he was the victim of a crime.
People who knew her were surprised because, apart from Maria, her one-year-old son, Christian, was also found inside her house.
According to the report, when the emergency services team arrived at their home, they attempted to revive Maria.
But due to the depth and number of stab wounds, the real estate agent was declared dead at the scene.
Her son, who still had a pulse, was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital, but his body had already given up .
While the investigation was still ongoing, his colleagues led the fundraising effort to help his family with upcoming expenses such as funeral and burial expenses.
On this Go Fund Me page you can read that they remembered what a good person Maria was.
The public was not impressed, especially those who knew Magina.
Not only did they donate but if you happen to stumble upon the Go Fun Me Page.
This comment is just one of many where people remembered what a good person Maria really was.
What happened to Mag-ina was not picked up by news outlets in the Philippines.
Even in Toronto, you can count the reporters who covered it.
I was only able to find out what happened to Maria and Christian because of the viewer who requested this case.
So for those of you who have a case you want me to cover, leave the details below the video or click the link in the pin comment in the comment section.
When the news reached their relatives in the Philippines, they too could not believe what had happened to the mangina.
And what's even worse is that the two were killed right inside their home, which should have been a place that protected them from harm.
The victims' neighbors were also struck with fear because the perpetrator or perpetrators might still be at large and might commit another crime.
Along with the increase in donations to the Gorospe family, an incident caught the attention of the police.
According to the report, around 6 am in addition to emergency services, authorities also arrived one after another on Southbound Highway 41 and Williams Parkway, just a few minutes away from Josephine Court where Maria lives.
There they found a man dead after being run over.
Due to the severity of the impact, he was not rushed to the hospital.
Authorities immediately checked the vehicle's plate number in the database and confirmed that it was Roberto Grospe.
Maria's husband .
People couldn't believe it because in just a little over two hours, three members of the Gorospe family died just like that .
But on the afternoon of August 16, just over an hour after the news about Maria spread.
The police appeared at the press conference.
There, they announced that they would close their investigation because the suspect was already dead.
Some were really surprised, especially those close to the couple because looking at their last post on social media, they look sweet.
But if you've been on this channel for a while, you know that I always say that the photos you often see on the internet are curated moments or those carefully selected photos to show the public that they are smiling, happy, and celebrating.
It is rare for someone to reveal their personal experiences and problems within their family.
So when what happened to Maria spread, people were really shocked because of the outward appearance.
You could say their family is successful in Canada.
But behind the happy pictures, the problem they didn't know was already serious.
It was only when the authorities released the results of the investigation that I learned that the couple had actually arrived in Canada together in the late 90s.
Based on the age of their adopted son, who was also 21 years old when this case occurred.
Through their collaboration, they were able to purchase a house in 2002 in Josephine Gourd.
The couple's neighbors described them as quiet.
Their children were three girls in a row and the youngest was a boy.
They often see the children playing outside their house and they said that they have never seen the police visit them.
While Maria was working and studying, Roberto worked as a transit operator.
Because of the stable income of the couple, it was not a problem for them to provide for their children's needs.
The family even travels within and outside of Canada when it's convenient.
But their lives will change permanently due to a tragedy.
In 2018, this report came directly from CBC, a news outlet in Canada.
The 51-year-old Roberto was brought to the precinct because his bus was involved in an accident that caused the death of a woman who was estimated to be 57 years old.
Maria and her husband quickly went to the precinct because the police were investigating Roberto to see if he had done what happened on purpose.
And using security footage, dashcam videos and interviews with people who saw what happened, authorities did not file charges against Roberto because for them what happened was an accident.
The report reviewed confirmed that on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at around 6 PM, the intersection of Lawrence Avenue West and Allen Road, which is near the bus entrance to the Lawrence West Subway Station, was busy and at the height of rush hour.
There were so many commuters back then, moving from one vehicle to another, or even to the city bus or subway line.
While the people were not moving around, the bus that Roberto was driving was scheduled to go straight to the parking lot.
But as he was about to enter the entrance, something suddenly crashed into the front of the bus and that's when Roberto realized he had hit something.
Authorities confirmed that there were no drugs or alcohol in his system.
They explained that even though it was only 6:00 pm because it was autumn, it was already dark at 4:50 pm.
So when the accident happened in 650, it was already very dark .
The combination of darkness, glare from the road, and shadows from nearby buildings made it very difficult to see.
And because of the influx of people returning home from work, they are often wearing black winter clothes .
So it was difficult for driver Roberto to notice the person who suddenly crossed while he was turning because he entered the part he could not see or what is called the blind spot.
It also helped that Roberto was cooperating with investigators so the incident was officially declared closed.
The documents state that this is a noncriminal blind spot.
In short, what happened was an accident.
The Grospe family breathed a sigh of relief when the investigation was over.
The photos show that Christmas and New Year were celebrated happily.
But when 2019 arrived, Maria noticed that Roberto often didn't come in until he finally resigned as a driver.
When the Toronto Police Traffic Service announced that Roberto was not responsible for the woman's death and that what happened was simply a tragedy.
According to experts, it cannot separate its so-called legal innocence from its emotional responsibility for what happened.
He had already been traumatized and couldn't help but think that if I had just taken the break or looked left and right a few times, he would still be alive.
Some would call that survivor's guilt.
Apart from that, he also experienced post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD, which is why he doesn't want to drive for fear that such an incident might happen again.
Instead of thinking that what happened was really an accident, he gradually began to think that he had committed a murder, which in the world of psychology would be called moral injury.
Maria supported his decision to quit his job because she knew that drivers of large vehicles must be confident, always alert, and emotionally stable.
So if her husband was triggered and had difficulty focusing due to his trauma, even the simple sight of a car would cause him to break down, she helped him process the resignation papers.
When Roberto took a short break from work, his entire family was supportive.
They always remind him that everything was just an accident, but his not working has only made his condition worse.
Investigators shared that at the time he was employed.
It always follows a strict schedule.
Then Roberto has physical activity and it helps him to socialize with passengers and his coworkers.
But when he resigned, those destructions disappeared.
Because his wife was working and all his children were at school, Roberto was left alone at home for over eight hours, so his brain was constantly analyzing the accident that had occurred.
According to experts, drivers involved in accidents, especially those involving fatalities, cannot help but think that other people may think they are criminals even if there is no case.
Roberto also couldn't help but think that the accident that occurred not only ruined the life of the woman who was hit but also the lives of her loved ones who were possibly depending on it.
According to experts, Roberto is a good person so he feels those things for the victim.
But those positive characters are the reason why he became vulnerable or weak when the accident happened.
He felt sadness for those left behind, but that sympathy backfired.
Because instead of thinking that he was a good person because he didn't mean to do what happened, he really couldn't stop himself from thinking that he had killed someone.
His brain was gradually consumed by those words, so he could no longer use the logical assurance that it was just an accident.
Their mood will change momentarily if they have guests at home or if they go somewhere else.
So when Maria posted a picture of her and her husband on social media, some people envied them.
But unbeknownst to them, Roberto is very different when he is in their house.
So in Maria's attempt to help her husband, they contacted an expert to guide them.
Roberto went through several therapy sessions and was also prescribed medication, but that did not help and on August 16, 2019, his brain gave out.
The official police report states that at 5:44 am, 911 received a call from the Grospes' house .
It turned out that the caller was one of Maria's daughters.
There, he said that his father attacked and stabbed his mother and youngest brother, Christian.
Then his father left the house and got in the car.
While Maria was declared dead at the scene and Christian was being treated at the hospital, around 6 am other police officers responded to Highway 41.
According to witnesses, a person suddenly plunged down from the overpass.
At the speed limit when the body fell, the vehicles were unable to brake immediately.
So it was hit several times, which is why it died immediately.
Using the vehicle's plate number, within minutes they were able to immediately identify the man who had jumped down from the overpass as Roberto.
Upon investigation, it turned out that even this was caused by medication.
According to his relatives, before the 2018 vehicular accident, the father of the family was already experiencing problems with his mental health.
But because his family members thought Roberto's mood was improving, they didn't take it too seriously.
Even Roberto himself refused to see an expert.
But when the 2018 vehicular accident occurred, its condition worsened .
His previous untreated mental health issue then led to him often being alone at home and not getting proper sleep.
Feeling guilty about the death of the young woman in the early hours of August 19, his brain completely collapsed.
In the world of psychology, Roberto's brain has either given up or he no longer knows what the illusion of truth is.
According to experts, his killing of his wife and child was not because he was very angry with them.
But perhaps Roberto experienced psychosis.
where his brain is convinced that his family will experience a great disaster and they will suffer.
So so that they would not experience the grief that would happen in the future, he chose to kill them.
In Riberto's mind, he thinks what he will do is mercy, killing, or protection so that they don't suffer.
The police also explained that Roberto was able to stab Maria and Christian because the two were closest to him.
His two other daughters were sleeping in another room while the other was attending a military style camp.
So he didn't witness or hear what his father did.
said she forgot to was going to just it off my house but she forgot and then I texted her this morning she said I was I could go wake her up to go to her house and got the two kids but then she hasn't responded yet when the authorities closed the investigation it was quiet and the family of the Gorospe family mourned privately.
They did not provide details regarding the burial and funeral .
Due to the intensity of the trauma, the three sisters never returned to their home in Josephine Court.
Since the two of them were no longer teenagers and had legally made decisions for their lives, they took the youngest of them, who was 15 years old, with them and they lived together in an apartment located in the Greater Toronto area.
In the three's message to the public, they shared that they still strongly believe in God that there is a reason why everything happened.
They asked the public to please include them in their prayers and they thanked the people who sincerely helped them, especially in the financial aspect.
Residents there, city officials, and even investigators were asked and asked by the public about mental health matters.
They encouraged people that if they are going through something like this, they should not hesitate to seek help from experts.
Because that way, not only will you be fine, but you might even save the lives of your loved ones.
